Effective construction of sandwich structures for energy efficient personal transportation

The aim of the project is therefore to contribute to increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce environmental impact by developing and verifying rational manufacturing methods for lightweight selfsupporting karos modules in sandwich elements. Sandwichteknik becomes central as a design concept, which means a technology shift for both design and Manufacturing methods. In particular, the following aspects will be studied: (i) rational linking between sandwich and monolith structure, (ii) development of methods for structural optimization of glue and adherent geometries, (iii) development and verification of rational manufacturing for net-shape PUR cores, (Iv) evaluation of net-shape molding of thermoplastic PET foam; (v) evaluation of PUR from natural raw materials; (vi) rational composition and integration of brackets and cables; (vii) development of models and methods for predictive form modification And process variability in foam materials, and (viii) new material flows for the purpose of reusing production games.
